  • The Kentia Palm is known for its lush fans of foliage and tropical island vibes. An excellent air purifier, this popular houseplant is a slow grower which blossoms new fronds from the center of its narrow trunk.
  • From the feather type palms group this one has wide fronds (leaves) which do not arch as much as the Belmoreana. These fronds look lush and can grow up to a foot long, making them in need of enough space where they are displayed.
  • These palms are also known as sentry or paradise palms. They are suitable for growing in USDA zones 9-11, but for those outside these ranges, Kentia palm plants make terrific container grown specimens.
  • They can grow up to 40 feet (12 m.) in height but they are slow growers, and indoor Kentia palms typically max out in containers at fewer than 12 feet (3.6 m.).
  • The plants are quite forgiving and tolerant of low light conditions, but do prefer an area that receives indirect light indoors. You can also choose to keep your plant outdoors during the warmer months in a somewhat shaded location. While the Kentia can tolerate temperatures down to 25 F. (-4 C.) and up to 100 F. (38 C.), it is best to bring the plant back indoors prior to winter and offer protection from excessive heat during the summer – no direct sun.

Gorgeous book
Format: Board book
This is one of our favorite books. The illustrations are stunning. It's a total work of art! And the story about changing seasons is lovely. I like that it's a quick read but that there's more than a word or two per page. My 13-month old really loves this book, and because I love it so much too, I always encourage her to bring it over for a read!

beautiful illustrations
Format: Board book
The story is nice, but the real magic is in the illustrations. As a parent, I adore reading this book just for the illustrations; each page is a work of art. Most of the story is about winter, so we are reading it a great deal now (December) to discuss wildlife and how they prepare for winter.

Another classic by Il Sung Na
Format: Board book
Il Sung Na is one of my favorite children's book authors/illustrators. The illustrations are whimsical and fun, the text is simple and colorful. This book is very similar in concept to his Book of Sleep as it chronicles a rabbit looking on as various animals respond to the changing seasons. My daughter loves this book, as well as the Book of Sleep and Opposite Zoo.

Great Book!
Format: Kindle
This book is awesome! I used it as a part of my reading lesson plan for preschool-age children. While I did not teach the lesson, my professor was impressed with the quality of resources I utilized in my lesson planning assignments, which includes this book! I enjoyed the colors, simple words, and finding the rabbit throughout the pages of this book!
